StreetSmarts (Online, 2006)

Ken Bautista

The Alberta Motor Association is the largest membership organization in Alberta with over 800,000 members. The AMA approached us produce an online game that would engage kids ages 10-12 to learn more about keeping safe, but more importantly to have fun doing it. We designed "StreetSmarts", an online game featuring a virtual neighborhood where kids could explore, play mini games, earn "Street Cents", and improve their "StreetWise" character rating by interacting with other characters in the neighborhood. StreetSmarts caused an immediate traffic increase of over 1,500% to the AMA website in its first few weeks. In 2006, the AMA School Safety Patrol program was presented a national Best Practice Award by the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) for its innovative approaches to safety education through products like StreetSmarts. www.ama.ab.ca/streetsmarts
